Kids to Parks Day
Congratulations to Ms. Barela’s 7th grade New Mexico History class for having been awarded funding for a park experience through the Kids to Parks Day National School Contest! The 7th graders submitted a thoughtful and creative application and were part of 130 classrooms representing 27 states who won the competition for 2016. As part of the gift package all Mountainair Middle School students received a Camelbak water bottle which was beneficial to their field trip experience.
The entire middle school was able to take a trip to the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. All students were able to hike and learn about the Tent Rocks. The 7th graders were taken to the Veteran’s Memorial Scenic Lookout where they planted a tree in honor of our nation’s veterans. The park is creating a plaque and posting it at the base of the tree honoring Mountainair Middle School’s dedication to the conservation of our National Parks. Here are a few pictures of the field trip on May 10, 2016.
Camelbak and National Park Trust have brought incredible joy and learning to all of the students of Mountainair Middle School. Thank You! #kidstoparksday #buddybison #NationalParkTrust #Camelbak
